Before you apply for a Learner Permit, you must by law complete and pass a test of road safety knowledge and law. There are 40 multiple-choice questions. You must answer 35 correctly. Once you have passed your Driver Theory Test you can then apply for your Learner Permit. You can see more details and book your Theory Test through the DTTS (Driver Theory Test Service) website www.dtts.ie

Before you begin to learn in Ireland you must hold a Learner Permit (previously known as the Provisional Driving Licence). Apply to the Motor Taxation Office of your local county council or city council. For details contact www.dublincity.ie
